About Johnno's AussietintHi I'm John Radford - Proprietor I've been in the window tinting industry
since 1976, and have worked for most of the major companies and even
managed several branch stores; both here in Western Australia and the
Eastern States. Since 1988 I've been self employed and am equally experienced
in vehicles, homes and offices. I've even sub-contracted on several
high rise office towers in the Perth CBD (3 - 18 floors).
I don't use "cheap films", I only use good quality window films, the same as professional tinting companies use. You can phone me on freecall 1800 65 65 60 or send me an email |
Automotive Window Tinting
TypesVehicle tints are manufactured in the following ranges:
I recommend the metal alloy based films as they offer superior heat control, visibility and durability. DarknessVehicle film installation is governed by State Vehicle Licensing regulations. Usually the requirement is that the film has a minimum Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 35% when fitted to the side and rear glass of a vehicle. Film is not allowed on the front windscreen with the exception of the uppermost 10% (similar to the band tint in new windscreens). Tint commonly referred to as "Limo Tint" is a 20% VLT (or lower) film and therefore not legal and should not be installed. The reason is that these "Limo Tints" are very dark and offer poor night-time visibility. A vehicle fitted with "Limo Tint" is deemed un-roadworthy and may therefore void an insurance claim if you are involved in an accident. Therefore - I will not sell darker than legal films! Truth is that even "Limo's" are not permitted to have anything less than a 35% VLT film installed. The apparent darkness of windows is actually more dependant on the colour of the vehicles upholstery - dark colours absorb light whilst lighter ones reflect light; thus the windows on a car with black upholstery will appear to have very dark tint. So if you would like your quality legal tint to look as dark as possible, then you are advised to fit dark seat covers. |
